Old India
India is a fascinating country, at the same time India is not an easy country, you either love India or not. I loved India from the very beginning. I was particularly drawn to ancient India with its deep wisdom and culture from the very beginning.
The Vedic period, the time of the holy rishis who received and passed on their knowledge from direct revelation; the creative power of the language; the mysterious rituals and the deep faith of its inhabitants... all this has led me to India again and again.
A few years ago I received a wonderful enquiry from a Waldorf teacher. She had heard about my trips to India and wanted to give her children a vivid picture of India. It is part of the fifth grade of the Waldorf school to talk about ancient cultures: India, Persia, Egypt... and so on.
The children were indeed able to experience India at first hand and sent me their impressions afterwards. I was deeply touched by the seriousness and attention they showed. Since then, I have been able to talk about India in several schools.
I would be happy to come to your class if you invite me!

Here are some of the children's comments:
Dear Mrs Ulrich, I thought it was great to dress up and learn more about India. I really liked the instruments. And you are always very welcome, Wilma
Dear Mrs Ulrich, I thought it was really cool what you showed us. Reciting the mantras was also a lot of fun (especially when I had the big singing bowl) The videos were also great, and the dressing up was also cool. Mega how many times you have been to India. Thank you very much, Frieda
Thank you very much Dear Mrs Ulrich, I learnt a lot of interesting things. My parents are yoga teachers. My mum has been to India for almost 2 years and I would like to go there too. I also go to yoga with my parents sometimes and know a few mantras and prayers. Best regards, Elias
Dear Mrs Ulrich, thank you very much for your stories about India. I particularly enjoyed when we played Indian music together. Fortunately I'm not a Brahmin, I wouldn't have wanted to join a monastery at the age of seven. Your Linus
Dear Mrs Ulrich, thank you very much for being with us, I really enjoyed it. Your Nora THANK YOU
Dear Mrs Ulrich, thank you very much for your great lessons, I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot about India, everything you told us was very interesting and I hope to see you again. Best regards Samuel
